Sub title
Island Magic to Host TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series Final Round
Date
21 Nov 2026 - 22 Nov 2026
Location
Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit

Headlining the 36th edition of Island Magic, November 20 to 22, the TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series will crown its 2026 series winner in the final of six rounds, at the Phillip Island Grand Prix Circuit.

The series joins a standout lineup of national categories, featuring the National Sports Sedans Series, Radical Cup Australia and Hyper Racer Australia, the latter making its racing debut at Phillip Island.

Leading Victorian championships complement the national classes, including Group N Historic Touring Cars, IPRA, Formula Vee and the Victorian Sports Sedans Championship.

As is tradition for Island Magic, Road Racing Trophies will be on offer for various classes.

Sports Sedans will compete for the famed 50K Plate, won by Brad Shiels in 2025 following an epic last-to-first performance in mixed weather conditions, racing the Joe Said Racing Rotary-powered Fiat 124.

Ash Quiddington will be out to retain the Mauri Fordham Trophy for Formula Vee, while the Matthew Flinders Plate for Improved Production will be up for grabs, won by Adam Poole and Brad Vereker in the Over 2-Litre and Under 2-Litre classes respectively in 2025.

With two rounds remaining in the 2026 TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series, the title chase is still wide-open with Tyler Cheney leading fellow Camaro pilot, Alice Buckley in second, with Ben Gomersall third in his Mustang.

TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series Category Manager, Matt MacKelden, expressed his delight in confirming Island Magic as host for the series’ final round.

“We’re thrilled to confirm the TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series’ place at Island Magic.” Said MacKelden.

“It’s the perfect event and venue to crown our 2026 series winner in a season that’s had us on the edge of our seats throughout.

“Working with the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club [PIARC] has been a delight, they’ve proudly promoted Island Magic for more than 35 years and know how to give national categories like TA2 a platform to bring the show to the fans.

“We last visited The Island back in 2021, it’s fast, flowing and our cars can easily run door-to-door, so we know we’re in for a spectacular title decider that’s going down to the wire.”

PIARC President, Jose van den Dungen, enthused that the 2026 Island Magic is shaping up as the biggest to date, both in regard to on-track action, crowd attendance and broadcast viewership potential.

“Island Magic is PIARC’s crown jewel of our annual events, and locking in TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series for the 36th edition is a massive achievement for our entire club.” Said van den Dungen.

“The entire PIARC committee and community has worked tirelessly to organise and arrange this year’s event, for more than 12-months now, all the guys and girls should feel proud of what they’ve achieved.

“Island Magic 36 will be a spectacle no motorsport enthusiast can miss. We encourage all fans to come and experience this year’s event in-person where national and state champions will be crowned.”

All racing action from Island Magic 2026 will be produced by Blend Line TV, with broadcast times and details to be announced soon.

Complete event schedules and ticketing information will be available on the PIARC website.

The honour roll of previous recipients of Island Magic Road Racing Trophies includes Bob Jane, Ian Geoghan, Phil Brock, Garry Rogers, Leanne Tander, Mark Winterbottom, Chaz Mostert, Will Brown and many more.
