Our History
The Island's
Own Club
Following an inaugural meeting on 26 March 1952, the Phillip Island Auto Racing Club was born. The current circuit site was purchased and work commenced on planning a race track. The first race meeting on the completed circuit took place on 15 December 1956, with Lex Davison winning the feature race.
From the Armstrong 500s of the early 1960s through to the Australian Motorcycle Grand Prix, the V8 Supercars, and the World Superbike Championship — Phillip Island's legacy is woven into every lap. PIARC has been there for all of it, providing the people, skills, and passion to make it happen.
Today the club remains totally active, always looking for persons of any age and experience to get involved. There are already over 400 race officials on the club lists — and more are always welcome. Experience is not needed; PIARC runs on-the-spot training as well as specialist courses throughout the year.

Official
Every motorsport event — from international grands prix to club-level sprint days — relies entirely on the dedication of volunteer officials. PIARC is always looking for passionate individuals to join the team.
You don't need prior experience. PIARC runs on-the-spot training at events as well as specialist courses throughout the year. You'll work alongside a diverse group who share a love of motorsport, gain access to world-class events, and play a critical role in keeping racing safe.

Get Your Licence

Complete the Motorsport Australia Official Licence Application. A Working with Children check is also required.

Complete the PIARC official registration form to join our volunteer pool and event roster.
